The Sunburn Cures You Didn’t Know About

Sunburns are one of those awful things most of us have experienced at one point or another. And they are awful. But if you don’t protect yourself, you get them (so think about that). There are some medical cures for sunburns, like creams and stuff. But there are some more natural ways to cure yourself. Although they are a little bit strange. But what the hell, if they work, they are worthed. Because how can anyone sleep with a burned back?

  • Plain Yoghurt

Yoghurt has one special thing in itself – it contains probiotics. They are something that will so the your pain, because they can help to restore the natural skin barrier. That is the layer of the skin that is damaged by the sun (at least when the sunburn is not very severe). You have to get a good plain yoghurt. Apply a very thick layer of it on the sunburned area. Leave it like that for 10 minutes. Then wipe with a soft towel (but first wet it) and apply moisturizing cream.

  • Tomato juice

Tomato juice does wonders for sunburned skin. But only the fresh one. It is like a magic red thing, that takes away all the redness of your skin. Also, it will kind of take away the pain, soothing immediately. A great thing to know is that tomatoes as a whole, help your skin not to burn in the sun. That doesn’t mean though to go to the beach and apply tomato juice. It just means that if you are eating a lot of tomatoes and you go to the beach you chances to get burned are way lower (but DON’T forget sunscreen too!).

  • Baking soda

Baking soda is not for baking your skin, it is used to help you after a disaster (LOL). It naturally helps your sunburned skin regain normal pH levels, which it loses when it gets sunburned. It won’t cure you totally, but it will help you regenerate faster and it will soothe a little bit. You need to add ¼ of a cup of baking soda to a bath. Soak in for 10 up to 15 minutes, but not a second more. Then pat dry your body and add a crazy amount of moisturizer. You need this now, because the skin is especially dry after a sunburn.

  • Potatoes

It sounds strange, I know. But potatoes are not only a food. They are also a soother of sunburn pain. How cool is that? There is almost no home without a potato in it. And it will be a cheap medicine for you. Especially in a critical situation, when there is no pharmacy close by fro example. Put the potatoes (or multiple if the sunburn is very big) into the fridge for a while. Then take it out. Peel it and slice it into medium thick circles. Apply over the burned area. Stay like that for as long as it is comfortable for you.
