There are a lot of people who like to experiment with food. They tend not only to try different meals, but they also like cooking ones which they have never had before. This way a person can learn new cooking techniques and they can try even more recipes.
Today we have prepared two recipes for all the adventurous eaters. And both of these recipes are sweet and sour. This cooking technique is famous among the Chinese with its very famous Sweet & Sour Chicken. So, here are the two recipes. Enjoy them!
#1 Sweet and Sour Pork
2 pounds of pork shoulder
1 white onion
1 red bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
1 can of pineapples with syrup (8 ounces)
¼ cup of spring onions
1/2 cup of soy sauce
2 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of black pepper
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
¼ cup of white sugar
¼ cup of ketchup
¼ cup of vinegar
1 cup of flour
First you need to get the pork shoulder and to cut it into pieces which need to be more or less as big as a bite. Then, when all the pork is cut into pieces, you need to put it into a big bowl and season it with the teaspoon of black pepper.
Then add the garlic cloves which need to be chopped beforehand. Then add the spring onions which again need to be chopped. Finally add ¼ cup of soy sauce. Mix the pork with the other ingredients well and leave it aside for a couple of hours to marinate. You could leave it in the fridge.
Once the pork pieces have marinated enough, you need to deep-fry it. But first you need to roll it in the two raw scrambled eggs and then to roll them in some flour. Make sure you roll all the pork pieces into the eggs and then the flour. When this is ready, get a deep pan and heat a couple of cups of cooking oil. Deep-fry the pork pieces until they turn brownish. Then remove them from the pan.
Get a new pan and heat the vegetable oil. Cut the white onion into big pieces and add it in the pan. Then cut the bell peppers into pieces which are as big as the ones you have cut the onions into. Add the bell pepper pieces into the pan and mix it well with the onions.
Cook it for a couple of minutes and then add the can of pineapple with the juice. The pineapple needs to be into small pieces as well. Mix the ingredients. Then add the vinegar and the other ¼ cup of soy sauce into the pan. After that add the white sugar and the ketchup and mix all the ingredients well together. Continue cooking it for a few more minutes by stirring it occasionally.
Then add the pork pieces into the pan and mix it with the rest of the ingredients in the pan. Continue cooking it for 2 more minutes by stirring it all the time. Then remove the pan from the hot plate. And the dish is ready. You could serve it with cooked white rice as a side dish.
#2 Sweet and Sour Chicken
The next recipe is similar to the previous one but instead of pork, you will need chicken. Here it is!
1 pound of chicken breasts
½ cup of cornstarch
1 green bell pepper
¾ cup of cider vinegar
¼ cup of ketchup
½ cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of oil
2 garlic gloves
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
salt to taste
pepper to taste
First you need to cut the chicken breasts into pieces which need to be more or less as big as a bite. Season them with salt and black pepper to taste and make sure you mix them well. Then you need to roll the chicken breast pieces into cornstarch well and then into the two scrambled eggs well.
Then heat a couple of cups of oil in a deep pan and deep-fry the chicken pieces for a couple of minutes. Remove them from the oil until they turn brownish. This would mean that they are ready and you need to remove them from the pan.
Once all the chicken bites are deep-fried, take the pan off the hot plate and get another one. Heat in it one tablespoon of oil. Then fry the garlic cloves which need to be chopped beforehand. Cut the bell pepper into pieces and add them into the pan with the frying garlic.
Then add the cider vinegar, the soy sauce, the ketchup, and the sugar into the pan. Mix all the ingredients in the pan well and continue cooking them for a couple more minutes.
Finally you need to add the chicken bites into the pan and mix them with the rest of the ingredients. Cook them for one more minute and then take the pan off the hot plate.
And the dish is ready to be served. Enjoy your meal!
