Super Easy Low Looped Bun Tutorial

It’s hard to come up with hairstyles that look elegant but are also functional enough to keep your hair out of your face and do not require frequent touching up. And let’s face it: buns are basic. Yet, there are days when you don’t want to wash or do your hair, so some dry shampoo and a top knot seem like the obvious choice. It’s time to switch things up. Besides being oh-so-easy to do, the low bun works well on hair of any length and can be done in less than 5 minutes. And if you’re someone who does not wash their hair daily, I have some great news for you. This style works best on 2 day-old hair too.

Step 1: Detangle your hair with a wide-toothed comb. Avoid using a regular brush on your tangles, since this can tear your hair and cause damage. Then, gather all your hair into a low ponytail and secure with a clear rubber band. Adjust the ponytail as needed to make it lower or higher depending on how you want your style to look. Then, you have to create an inside-out ponytail, or also called an inverted pony. Use your fingers to make a hole right above the hair band. Pull the ponytail down through the hole.  Adjust the ponytail as needed.

Step 2: Braid the inverted pony into the traditional three-strand method and add a hair band when you reach the end. Don’t focus on this part being perfect as you will loop the braid in the next step.

Step 3: Roll the braid and loop it into a neat bun.

Step 4: Use several bobby pins to secure the bun in place. After securing in place with a hair tie and strategically placed bobby pins, pull out sections of your bun to loosen. A final mist of hairspray and your lovely hairstyle is ready!
