There are a lot of people who think that potatoes contain a lot of calories and they try to avoid eating them especially when they are on a diet. Believe it or not, potatoes do not contain that much calories. In fact, in 100 grams they contain only 76.7 calories and compared to the number of calories a person needs a day (about 2 000), this is certainly not that much.
Of course, one should be careful how they cook potatoes. If you choose to eat french fries, the calories will surely be more than tripled, but if you boil or roast them, the calories will be under 100. It depends on the olive or cooking oil you add.
If you are not afraid to have potato dishes and you actually love them, then you will probably like today’s recipes we have prepared for you. They all contain potatoes and are fairly easy to make. Here they are!
Cheese and potatoes patties
4 normal potatoes
½ cup of melted butter
1 cup of cheddar cheese
¼ cup of chives
1 tablespoon of garlic salt
1 teaspoon of oregano
½ teaspoon of pepper
First, you need to peel the potatoes and then grate them. Once this is ready get a bowl with some ice cold water and put the grated potatoes in it. This will make the potatoes thicker in a way. Leave the potatoes there for about a minute and then get them out of the water. Once you are done with this, you can move on to the next step.
Put the grated potatoes in a big bowl. Then add the melted butter and the cheddar cheese. It is preferable if the cheese is also grated because this way it would be easier for you to make the potatoes patties later.
After that get a smaller bowl and scramble the two eggs there. Only then add them into the big bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Add the chives and the spices after that: the oregano, the garlic salt, and the pepper. If you do not have garlic salt, you could use normal salt and then add some garlic powder.
Mix all the ingredients well using your hands. After that get a baking tin and line it with some baking paper. Then get a handful of the potato mixture and make a patty like a ball, as if you are making a snowball. Do the same with the rest of the mixture and line the patties on the tin leaving a couple of centimeters space between the patties.
When the patties are ready, put the tin in the oven and make them for about 40-45 minutes at 200 0C. When the time is up, remove the tin from the oven. Serve the potato patties while they are still warm and garnish them with some ketchup, or salsa.
Garlic Parmesan Potatoes
3 big potatoes
4 tablespoons of olive oil
½ cup of Parmesan
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon of paprika
salt to taste
pepper to taste
First you need to wash the potatoes. Then cut them into halves vertically. After that cut them into crescent pieces horizontally. Add the pieces into a bowl and add the olive oil and mix them well after that. Leave them aside for now.
Get a small bowl and add the garlic powder, the Italian seasoning, the paprika and some salt to your taste. Mix them all well. After that pour the ingredient mixture onto the potatoes and make sure all of them are seasoned well by mixing them.
After that get a baking tin and line it with cooking foil. Pour the potatoes in the tin and spread them on the surface. Bake the potatoes at 200 0C for half an hour. After that get the tin out of the oven and sprinkle the Parmesan equally on top. Season it with pepper to your taste and get the tin back in the oven. Bake the potatoes once again at 200 0C but this time for 20 minutes. And when the time it up, remove the potatoes from the oven and you are ready. Serve them seasoned with some fresh dill.
