There are a lot of people who say that they like cooking but simply do not have enough time to do it. That is why they often prefer eating out, or even eat ready-made meals. This may be a quick solution to deal with one’s hunger, but it is not the best one since these kinds of meals can be expensive, or one can end up gaining weight. And we all know how nightmarish this could be for some people. That is why it is best to cook healthy meals on one’s own.
Today we have decided to inspire you to start cooking more by preparing for you an interesting pie recipe. When people think about pies, their first though is usually about apple pies. Well, the pie we have prepared for you is not a sweet one and, what is more, it is made of spaghetti! If you are already interested in the recipe, continue reading to teach yourself how to do it.
Spaghetti Pie Recipe
4 ounces of pasta
2 tablespoons of butter
2 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoon of bread crumbs
1 cup of Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons of vinegar oil
½ cup of onion
8 ounces of ground beef
15 ounces of tomato sauce
3 tablespoons of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of fresh basil
1 cup of ricotta
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 ½ cups of Mozzarella
The first thing you need to do is to get the pasta and to break it into about 2 inch long pieces if you have decided to use spaghetti. If you have chosen vermicelli, then you will not even have to break it because it would be already with the perfect length for the recipe.
Boil the pasta in a pot full of boiling water for about a couple of minutes. There is no need to wait for the pasta to be boiled completely. Then remove the pot from the hot plate and drain the water. You may use a strainer to do it more easily.
Now put the boiled pasta in a bowl and add the butter and the garlic cloves which you may chop beforehand. Mix them all together. Since the pasta will be hot, the butter will melt completely while mixing them together. Then add 1 of the eggs which is best to be scrambled beforehand. Add one tablespoon of bread crumbs and the Parmesan cheese and mix all of them well.
Now pour the pasta mixture in a round baking tin and spread it equally on the bottom of it. Then add the other tablespoon of bread crumbs on top spreading it equally as well. Bake the mixture for 20 minutes at 175 0C. When the crust is ready, remove it from the oven and leave it aside.
Now get a pan a heat the vinegar oil in it. Make sure it is heated and then add the chopped onion. Stir it and let it sizzle for a minute. Then add the ground beef and mix it well with the onion. Let it sizzle until the beef turns from red to brownish. Then you can try this extra trick to make the pie less oily. Using a tablespoon you need to remove some of the extra oil from the pan.
Then continue cooking the ground beef and add the tomato sauce and the tomato paste. Mix them with the ground beef. Cook them for a minute and then add the fresh basil. Stir the mixture well and remove the pan from the hot plate.
The last thing you need to do is to prepare the last layer of the pie. Get a clean bowl and put in it 1 cup of ricotta, 1 egg, and the teaspoon of dried oregano. Whisk them together until it turns into a homogeneous mixture.
Now add the ricotta mixture on top of the pasta crust spreading it equally. Then get the ground beef sauce and add it on top of the ricotta layer spreading it equally as well. Finally, add the 1 and ½ cups of Mozzarella on top of it making sure every part of the pie is covered with it.
Lastly you need to bake the pie for about 25 minutes at 175 0C. When the pie is ready, remove the tin from the oven. Serve it garnished with a ball of ricotta on top.
