Top knots, messy buns, sock buns, braided buns, the possibilities are endless. The list goes on and on. It’s safe to say our hair has spent of good portion of its lifetime in bun form. Quite recently has entered the idea of using a bow to accessorize your bun hairstyle. But why use a ribbon when you could turn your hair into an actual bow instead? This trend is sweeping the globe, turning everyday hair into a work of art. Because this bun already has a bow in it, there also isn’t any need for you to add an accessory!
Step 1: Brush your hair nicely. Work with dry and frizzy hair so that it doesn’t overcrowd the space. Your hair must be able to fluff out nicely when teased; wet hair does not fluff well. Next, you’re going to want to rethink the product you’re applying to your hair. Only certain products, like styling cream or oils, will work. They’ll give your hair more body and tame it a bit giving it a flatter look.
Step 2: Gather all of your hair on the top of your head and start a ponytail with your favourite elastic hair tie.
Step 3: Loop your hair through the elastic and on the last pull through, don’t pull your hair all the way through and instead create a loop, leaving the ends of your hair pointing toward your forehead.
Step 4: Divide your loop into two halves
Step 5: Take the ends of your hair and fold it back through your two looped halves, creating the centre “knot” part of the bow
Step 6: Secure the ends in the elastic behind the bow in the back of your head. Fluff up your bow by spreading out the loops and gently tugging them tighter and the look is complete! Do not forget to apply hairspray all over your bow bun to make sure it stays put all day long.
