Summer is the season when people from all over the world go to the beach. And this is no wonder, since this is probably the best place one could be in the summer. However, not everything is perfect at the beach. Sometimes people are foolish enough to forget to apply sun cream on.
And this is how they get sunburned. Luckily for them, not everything is lost and sunburns could be treated quickly, as a matter of fact overnight. Here are some home remedies that will help you do it.
#1 Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is probably the most popular remedy for sunburns. There are a lot of creams that contain extract from this plant and have a soothing effect on the skin. You could easily treat your sunburns with it. There are two ways to do it: either to directly apply it on the skin and massage it a little, or first to freeze it.
There are actually a lot of girls who are using this technique. They first freeze the aloe vera and then apply it on the skin. This way the aloe ice cubes will have both a soothing and refreshing effect on the skin. And if you do not happen to have aloe vera, then you could try some of the other remedies.
#2 Potato peels
If you have a couple of potatoes at home, you could use the peels to sooth you aching and burning skin. Believe it or not, but they are a great remedy when it comes to sunburns. What you have to do is simply to gently massage the affected area with the potato peels for about 10 minutes.
After that you will notice that your skin’s condition is much better than it used to be. And if you do not notice any change, then repeat the same technique within a couple of hours and also when you wake up the next day.
This is one of the oldest remedies for sunburns. The reason why it is so effective is that the yogurt absorbs the extra heat from the body and this way helps it cure itself faster. The only thing you will need is some yogurt that is not flavored and to massage your burns with it.
Leave it on the skin as long as possible. This way the result will be most effective. It is not necessary that the yogurt be cold, but it will surely feel much nicer on the skin. Repeat it within a couple of hours if you still feel pain because of the sunburns. Or you could even try some of the other remedies and then this one.
#4 Apple cider vinegar
If you do not have some of the other ingredients at home, then you surely must have at least apple cider vinegar. You could use it to heal some of your sunburns. You also need to know that if your skin is too sensitive, you also need to be careful with this remedy.
You may have to mix it with some water and then to apply it on the sunburned areas. If you want to meet the best results possible, then you need to reapply the vinegar or the vinegar mixture every five hours. First of all, be gentle to your skin and do not over apply the mixture.
#5 Baking soda
Who could have thought that baking soda has so much use and that one of them will be to treat sunburns? It works against sunburns because it has anti-inflammatory properties. What you have to do to try this remedy is to mix one cup of baking soda with ¼ cup of water and mix them well.
The mixture will look like some paste. Then simply apply it on the burned areas and leave it there for as long as possible, but if you feel uncomfortable you could wash the baking soda paste away 10 minutes later.
And one last tip, rinse the paste with cool water, because it will be better for your skin, but since it will be very sensitive at this time, I hardly believe that you would like to rinse it with warm water.
