A smoky eye is one of the most popular makeup looks, but it can also be the most daunting to create and the hardest to get right. Not all smoky eye creations need to be dark and intense – you can create a subtle daytime look that just adds some dimension to your eyes. You want your smoky eye to accentuate your eyes, not distract or look too dark. This is why we are going to show you how to do the outer V eyeshadow makeup look in just a few simple steps!
The art of a smoky eye is in layering and blending the shadows. Any colour can be used to create a smoky eye. You will need at least three shades in similar hues, to create a smooth gradient of colour. This particular tutorial uses white, silver and black.
Step 1: Apply a thin layer of eyeshadow base over your eyelid and bringing it all the way up under your brow using your flat brush. Then, grab your liquid eyeliner and outline the outer V. Make sure the wing of the eyeliner is angled towards the end of your brow.
Step 2: Start filling this part of the lid with black shadow all the way to the centre of the lid.
Step 3: Now, take the silver shadow, apply it to the centre of the lid and blend it through the crease using your fluffy brush.
Step 3: Apply the white shadow to the inner corner only. Blend back and forth with the brush, or in tiny little circles, so the shadow looks more diffused.
Step 4: Apply the eyeliner as usual to highlight the beauty of this makeup.
Step 5: Apply your favourite false eyelashes for a glamorous finish! Remember to place them where your natural eyelashes begin, look down and press the strip lash against your lash line in the centre, the outer edge and inner corner. For an eye-lifting effect, place the outer extension slightly above the natural lash line.
