How to Curl your Hair with a Straightener

Here, how to master those laidback beachy waves by using your flatiron and without spending a ton of time in front of the mirror. Now is the time to curl your hair with a straightener to create a really curly hair with almost no effort at all!

Step 1: Separate your hair so you can work in small, thin sections. This way it will be easier for you to add the curls as you go. Starting fairly close to the scalp, clamp the iron closed and turn it back on itself a half turn. Run the iron slowly down the hair shaft to the end.

Step 2: It is very important to remember that the slower you move the iron, the tighter the curl. The faster you move the iron, the gentler the wave.

Step 3: Take another small section and put it through the straightener while turning the straightener away from your face as you go. You need one half turn of the straightener to get a nice bouncy curl. If that doesn’t work, try a full turn and you should be fine.

Step 4: Release the curl! Repeat the process with the rest of your hair. Don’t you just adore your new curly hairstyle!

Now that you have the curls all done, you still have to style it a little bit to get the look you want. For instance, you may wish to tease the crown section of your hair to add volume to your lovely curled hairstyle. Or, perhaps, you may wish to gently break up some of the curls for more casual look. To do this, simply run your fingers through your hair. However, do not touch or run your hands through the curls until they have cooled down completely, this helps the curls set and stay longer.
