One of the parts of our bodies that we need to take extra care during the summer is one’s skin. It is the part of your body that is exposed to the sun, mosquito attacks and uncomfortable sandals which one has bought just because they looked nice.
And since in the summer people do not wear socks, which in a way serve as an extra protection against the uncomfortable shoes, cracked feet is definitely not something uncommon.
So, we have decided to search for some remedies and tips that will help protect our feet in the summer. And that is especially when it comes to cracked feet.
#1 Rosewater and glycerin
The first remedy in the group is one which is made of rose water, glycerin, and some additional ingredients. The best thing about this remedy is that it deeply hydrates the skin without making you feel like your skin is too oily. Here is what you need to do to prepare this recipe.
2 tablespoons of glycerin
2 teaspoons of rosewater
½ cup of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of salt
some warm water
a foot basin
Once you have all the ingredients you need to prepare the mixture. Get a basin ans fill it in with warm water, be careful because it should not be too hot. Then add the salt the glycerin, the rosewater and the lemon juice and mix the ingredients well.
Then you simply need to soak your feet in the warm mixture for about 20 minutes. Make sure you also take your time and enjoy the relaxing foot bath. When you remove your feet from the water, you will notice that your skin is much softer than it was before that.
It is preferably to do this remedy before going to bed so that you give your feet time to relax as well. And you can also combine it with the next remedy in the list.
#2 Sleep with socks on
A lot of people can hardly sleep with socks on in the winter let alone the summer. However, if you do not find it difficult for you, you could try it and you will see that it works magic for your feet. You could soak your feet in some warm water, or in some rosewater and glycerin mixture, to make your foot skin extra soft. After that you should also apply a good deal of foot cream on your feet and massage them for a couple of minutes paying special attention to the parts that are most cracked. After that put on a pair of socks overnight. This way your feet will get the extra hydration their skin needs in order to get rid of the dry and cracked skin.
#3 Forget about flip-flops
It is true that the weather in the summer is so hot that people would hardly wear shoes that will make their feet feel even warmer. However, if you do not want to have blisters, cracked heels and pain, they you need to be very careful when choosing your shoes.
And this means that you need to forget about wearing flip-flops. They cannot provide enough support for your feet and thus you can easily hurt them, especially if you wear flip-flops for too long.
#4 Stick to the natural fabrics
If you notice that you have problems with your feet, you should also pay attention to the fabrics you choose for them, not only when it comes to socks, but also when it comes to the material of the shoes you are wearing. This way you will also get rid of any unpleasant smell your feet may have.
#5 Use coconut oil
Another remedy which will help you get rid of cracked feet and it will hydrate your skin extra, is coconut oil. As you probably know, coconut oil is very good for your skin and your hair. There are a lot of hair masks, for example, for hair growth which use coconut oil. It is also works great for hydration. It is thus no wonder that it is one of the remedies for cracked feet.
This remedy is in a few steps, so make sure you follow every one of them, so that the end result meets your expectations. Here is what you need to do. First, you need to soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes or so. This procedure will relax your feet and will make your skin softer.
Then scrub your feet with a loofah, so you remove the dead skin from your feet. After that simply massage your feet with a good enough amount of coconut oil and sleep overnight like this. If you are afraid that you might stain your bed sheets with coconut oil, put on a pair of socks. Repeat this procedure every night for about a week and your feet will already be “cured”.
