Here it is – a bouffant hairstyle tutorial where we breakdown all the steps for this retro-chic hairstyle that you can easily make your own with fashion accessories and trendy makeup look.
Step 1: Use a clean comb, and slowly comb through the tangles of your hair. It’s best to comb out the ends first and then detangle a few inches higher repeatedly until you’ve done your whole length.
Step 2: Use a pin-tail comb to draw your chosen parting. Hold the comb perpendicular to your scalp, and then use the pointed end to draw a line through your hair, separating a small hair section from your ear towards the headline.
Step 3: Take the separated hair section and clip it behind your ear with a bobby pin. When you slide the bobby pin into your hair, the wavy side should be against your scalp. Inserting the bobby pin in this way provides a better grip on your hair so that it stays in place.
Step 4: Now, it’s time for teasing. Grab the crown section which is not pinned behind your ears and backcomb it. The key is to avoid combing vigorously back and forth – this can damage your hair and cause breakage. Instead, brush downwards from above your roots, pull out the comb, and repeat.
Step 5: Take your comb and very gently smooth out the top of your teased sections.
Step 6: Separate another small section from the other side of your head.
Step 7: Gently pull this section towards the back, pinning it behind your ear. Turn the bobby pin so that the wavy side is down.
Step 8: Depending on the thickness of your hair, you may want to repeat steps 2 – 3 with sections on the left and right side of your part for added volume.
