5 Interesting Uses of Mouthwash You Did Not Know about


Nowadays it is almost a must to go regularly to the dentist for a check-up and to take care of our teeth using not only a toothbrush and toothpaste but also dental floss and mouthwash. It is a whole ritual even. You have probably heard that there are different uses of toothpastes apart from brushing your teeth with, like cleaning your glasses with it to bring back their shine.

The same way there are different uses of mouthwash which can help you deal with some annoying beauty and health problems. Today we have prepared for you a list of the extra uses of mouthwashes you can try out at home when you have some of the following problems. Check them out!

#1 Getting rid of pimples

You have probably heard that you can use some toothpaste to get rid of pimples because it consists of antibacterial agents. The same way you can use mouthwash and it will do the same job because it also has antibacterial properties.

If you apply a cotton pad with some mouthwash on it on your pimples, the antibacterial ingredients in the solution will kill the bacteria causing the zits. This way your zits will be gotten rid of faster.

This is a very useful acne remedy as well. In such cases you can apply this treatment twice a day for faster and better results.

#2 Odor-free remedy

There are some people who have really bad body odor. Of course, nobody would want to smell bad but what to do if even some of the most expensive and well-known deodorants do not help? Luckily, there are some remedies which can help people get rid of the bad odor. One of them is mouthwash.

Mouthwashes are perfect for getting rid of bad smells for two main reasons. The first one is that they contain antiseptic agents which help kill the smell-causing bacteria. And the other one is that they contain alcohol which is perfect for reducing sweating.

This makes mouthwashes a great remedy for sweatiness – it reduces it and gets rid of the smell. Of course, you can also use it to get rid of other unpleasant bogy parts smell, like smelly feet and even crotch smell. However, it is best to avoid applying mouthwashes directly on your intimate parts because it may lead to some skin inflammations since this part of the skin is very sensitive.

#3 Dandruff remedy

Another very common and annoying problem people have is dandruff. It sometimes cannot be healed by some shampoos designed for the purpose. The good news is that people can use some other alternative remedies to stop having dandruff. And in this number mouthwashes are included.

What you can do if you have reappearing dandruff is to try this mouthwash remedy. You will also need water and lemon juice. Mix equal parts, for example 1 tablespoon, of lemon juice, water, and mouthwash. Stir them well.

Then you need to apply the mixture on your scalp. Try to reach every part of it and gently rub it with your fingers. Once you are done with this, let the mixture stay on your scalp for about 10 minutes. Then wash your hair as usual with shampoo. You can apply this remedy 2 times a week for a fortnight to get rid of the dandruff completely.

#4 Treating head lice

Even though this problem seems like it only affects children, this is not completely true – adults can also end up having head lice if they are in contact with someone affected. And even if it is for you or your children, it is definitely useful to know a remedy which can help you get rid of head lice. You can use mouthwash.

You will need a spray bottle, mouthwash, and water. Fill in 1/3 of the bottle with water and the rest 2/3 with mouthwash. Shake them well inside the bottle and then apply the solution on your head – from the roots to the tips, focusing on the scalp slightly more. Then wait for about 10 minutes.

Then you need to get a comb and brush the head lice away from your hair. Wash your hair with shampoo afterwards. You also need to repeat the treatment once in a week to see results coming.

#5 Heal sore throat

Winter is a great season, but it often leads to having a cold or the flu. This illnesses often result in having a sore throat. Luckily, there is a quick non-medical remedy which can help you heal your throat faster. All you need to do is to gargle with mouthwash 3 times a day.

The gargling will help the mouthwash reach your tonsils without making you drink the water. At the same time the antibacterial agents in the solution will kill the bacteria causing pain and discomfort in your throat.
