2 Delicious Chickpea Recipes to Try on Your Own

 

Nowadays a lot of people like to experiment with a lot of different ingredients. They not only use different spices, some of which unusual for their country and even continent, but they also like to experiment with the main ingredients.

Today we have prepared for you a couple recipes with one main ingredient which is becoming more and more popular around the world because it is healthy and nourishing. And this is chickpea. Here are the chickpea recipes we have prepared for you today to try on your own!

#1 Chickpea curry

Ingredients:

2 cans of chickpeas
2 cups of tomatoes
½ cup of water
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
2 cups of onions
1 green chili pepper
¼ cup of chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon of oil
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of ginger
2 tablespoons of garam masala
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper

Directions:

Step 1

First you will need to take a deep pan and to heat the oil in it. Then get the onions, which need to be diced beforehand, and heat them in the pan. Stir-fry them by constantly stirring them in the pan.

Step 2

Once the onion turn brownish you need to add the garlic cloves. You need to cut them very thinly before adding them into the pan. Mix the two ingredients a little. Then get the green chili and chop it. Add it into the pan with the other two ingredients.

Step 3

Then you need to add the seasonings one by one starting with the ginger. Then stir the ingredients in the pan a little and add the Garam Marsala, the turmeric, and the salt and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients in the pan well.

Step 4

The next thing you need to do is get the tomatoes and add them into the pan. It is recommended to peel them first and then to cut them either into cubes, or into some other similar-size shape.

Add after that the chickpeas and pour the water on top of them. Mix all the ingredients in the pan well. Put the lid on the pan and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 5

Once the 15 minutes have passed take the lid off and stir the dish once again. Add the lemon juice and the chopped cilantro and stir well once again. You can stir the dish for one more minute and then you can take it off the hotplate.

And the dish is ready! You can serve it with some cooked rice as a side dish. Enjoy!

#2 Avocado and Chickpea Salad

Ingredients:

2 cans of chickpeas
1 cucumber
20 cherry tomatoes
1 red onion
1 avocado
1/3 cup of grated carrots
feta cheese for garnishing

For the dressing:

2 tablespoons of olive oil
¼ cup of chopped cilantro
¼ cup of lime juice
2 teaspoons of cumin
2 teaspoons of chili powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of black pepper

Directions:

Step1

First you need to prepare the dressing for the salad. Get a small bowl and pour the olive oil in it. Then add the lime juice, the cumin, the chili powder, the salt and the black pepper. Stir them a little. Then chop the cilantro and add it into the bowl. And stir all the ingredients in the bowl well. Leave the dressing aside for now.

Step 2

Now you need to get a bowl which needs to be big enough to hold the whole salad. Put the chickpeas in it. Then wash the cucumber and cut it into round pieces. Then cut them in halves. If you want them to be even smaller, you can cut the half pieces once again in halves. Then add them into the bowl.

Step 3

After that you need to wash the cherry tomatoes and to cut them into halves. Add them into the bowl as well. After that you need to peel the red onion and to dice it. If you want the pieces to be bigger, you can cut the onion as you want.

Step 4

Now get the avocado. Cut it in halves and remove the stone. Scrape the flesh from the peel using a spoon. Then cut the avocado into ¼ pieces. Add them into the bowl as well. Add the grated carrots into the bowl too. And lastly pour the dressing on top of the ingredients in the big bowl.

Step 5

Now you need to stir all the ingredients in the bowl carefully. Make sure all the ingredients are distributed evenly. And voila, the salad is ready. You can serve it with some feta cheese sprinkled on top.
